Week 5 Challenge-the letter M

Here is the newest ZIA from our "It's New to Me" challenge, with the letter M
http://suzymoshcreations.blogspot.com/p/thats-new-to-me-weekly-challenge.html

This week's design has the pattern "Miander" running along the bottom right corner and through the middle.I did a variation on the bottom corner ones, but it's a nice filler!

This is now with some shading.... not done yet, but almost.

Last Tangles done in 2014

These will be some of the last ones I do this year.... I'll add photos of more as I get them finished. Just love this hobby!!
These pieces are in my book (drawing book) that measures about approz 5" x 7".
This one I call "Seahorse"... used mom's chair coaster for the circle designs.... used ideas from my new book on The Art of Zentangles that I got for Christmas from my husband.

Seahorse

This one I used the 6" metal ruler and the tracing of three overlapped designs and then drew an "S" chape connecting two of the ends... I want to call this "Zentangles Rule!"
Zentangles Rule!
This was done on a 2.5" x 3.5" Artist trading card (cream) although I always take the saturation way down to take out the color. I'm showing you what it looks like with the pencil lines still showing...
Then here is the same card once the pencil has been erased.... much better I think. Love it... I find it's not important to fill in all the space (notice at the top).
"Reaching for the Sky"

Christmas Tree 2014

Three more... Two are revised from a draft on some paper...

This one I did while watching a British TV drama... Bletchley Circle. I must have subconciously put in the web (oh, what a tangled web we weave)... Maybe that's it's name!
"Oh, what a tangled web we weave, Mate"
After a visit to my daughter's in-laws (really, our friends) and showing Steve how easy it is to Zentangle, I let him put the strings in the space and this is what I created...
"Steve's Challenge"
This is one I started in a small 3"x3" book of plain paper... silver edges. Lovely to abandon my work from...
This one has gone through some name changes... I liked the river rocks pattern, so I decided to create a hand to help gather more rocks into it's bed... hence the name. This is the last one I created in 2014.

Here's the Rest of the cut-out cards from Janice

Blowfish
The first photo of each card is the outside... then open it to reveal the inside design.

Life in the Sea

Life in the Garden

Done with a heavier pen- not sure I like the outside
Love the inside of this one....
Squawk!
I tried a heavier pen and not sure I like it for the whole thing... tried to do a lace border, but realized that I had a crooked top edge, so I added the waving strings.
Roman Chariot

Baby Buggy
This one hasn't gotten an outside done yet... This is what shows through from the inside.
This inside isn't finished, but it's neat to show the stage that it goes through.

Okay, it's finished!
 "Sailing on the Ocean Blue"

Inside of the card..... I really loved how the shading came out.

Ideas from a new book

Row upon Row
I've gotten another Zentangle book and been trying some things out on it. Here are a few of the ones I've done. The two images on the left and below, are the same, just one is upsidedown... The one on the left was just strings that were drawn to make different rows of tangles...the one below makes me think of Boston, with it's old and new buildings, the sailboats on the river...
Boston on the Charles
Carol's Posey-before

Carol's Posey-after
This one I did for my boss. She had asked if she made a squiggle with her initials, could I do a design with it? Sure.... I never connected before the end of the day, so I did her initials (C.D.) and created tangles around it.  Now, ... there IS a story to it. Unconciously, I made spikes on her back, a snake with a forked tongue and talons (claws) within it. Not intentional, honest.... When I showed it to her, she wasn't crazy about the snake, so I embellished it to hold a 'posey'.... Much better. So much so, that she had me make a copy and she mounted it and will have it framed. My first piece of art in someone's house!

My 8 yr old grandson wanted to make a 'string'... so this is HIS string done with tangles.
This string started out as lightning bolts... Tried a few new tangles from my new book. Did some shading.
Tried new designs here, but haven't shaded it yet.
This one I did with MY initials.... (N.E.) and I incorporated part of me in it... That I have a big heart, that I'm soft at the hips, that I love to wear socks that don't match, that I can be 'spikey' on occasion... I think it suits me just fine. LOL
Nancy's Tangle-not shaded
Nancy's Tangle- shaded
This is a smaller string, that when I got done with it, it looked like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. Unshaded as of yet.
"Butterfly Emerging" or "Cocoon"
This one I wanted to try different ribbons (inspired from my book), and filled in part of the background with bubbles.... but left holes in the background. Started to shade it.... Not sure how much more I'll do with it. Notice how the shadow of one of the ribbons is cast on the bubble underneath it? Neat....

OMG They're LOST!!

Okay.... I panicked today. My brain has been so crazy this week (my job's busiest month is October), so badly crazy that I forgot my husband's birthday! I've NEVER Done that....so it just goes to show you that after spending my time at my mom's and running back and forth between my house, her house, visit a new baby at my friend's house, work, shopping, church, baptism, delivering mom to her 94 yr old boyfriend's house, visiting my aunt who's recovering from a fall....see what I mean?  (And this was from Wed to Sunday)

So When I got to my aunt's house, I realized I didn't have my 'packet' of finished Zentangles!! AND. I had a hole in the bag that my tools were in!! I looked frantically on the lawn, outside of my aunt's, through my purse (well, at least it's cleaned out now), my two bags I brought back from mom's... I even looked in the frig (well, I COULD have put it in one of the grocery bags I brought home...).

Resigning myself to have to drive back out to my mom's (15-20 min drive), hubby said he'd accompany me on this.. (thanks). As I went out to my car, I thought ... maybe, just maybe, I'd put it in the pocket of my sweatshirt! ... Where was it? (Hubby was doing laundry and I was hoping he checks pockets....). Didn't see it. In the trunk of my car, I DID have a jacket... YES!!!! It's in the pocket.

We'll, since hubby and I were outside, dressed to go somewhere... we went to dinner. NOW, I can post photos of them and THEN, put them somewhere safe! (AND I got another bag for my tools!)

Here are the recent ones... I may start naming them.
This one looks like a snail...., skiing.

Jeweled Snake

I'm inclined to name this "Hornet"... see the tail of the hornet on the lower left side?

 The Unassuming Blowfish

 Tinsel

The Curtain

This one has the other ball below on it's backside.... I'll hang this one on the tree.

Wormwood

 The Divan

Twister Sister

This is the other side of the tree ornament tag...(above)

This will also hang on the tree....
