I got the Blues from Janice....

Here is a card (with hole punches) that my buddy, Janice sent me. The steps that you are seeing it in, are the front of the card, opening it to reveal the inside of the card.

This is the tangle I created using my artist tiles that I started tangling on as a pattern to trace for the box shapes, then I wanted to add a soft feminine swipe through it, and make the tangles in the boxes very soft, curvy..... The fun part is that you can add to these any time you want... and again, ... and again until you decide, "It's done!" (then sign and date it.)

This card is blue.... and I used the scallop circle to make the design on the outside (floral) ....
and open up to the inside to reveal the 'dark side' of the garden.... (Thanks for the cards Janice).

Since I did the circle thing (above) , I thought I'd do something with boxes...

I had a foot cookie cutter in my drawer, and since my daughter in law just had twins, I thought of them a lot this week.

This one I made from a card with a circle cut from the top of it.....(look closely)

Ideas from a new book

Row upon Row
I've gotten another Zentangle book and been trying some things out on it. Here are a few of the ones I've done. The two images on the left and below, are the same, just one is upsidedown... The one on the left was just strings that were drawn to make different rows of tangles...the one below makes me think of Boston, with it's old and new buildings, the sailboats on the river...
Boston on the Charles
Carol's Posey-before

Carol's Posey-after
This one I did for my boss. She had asked if she made a squiggle with her initials, could I do a design with it? Sure.... I never connected before the end of the day, so I did her initials (C.D.) and created tangles around it.  Now, ... there IS a story to it. Unconciously, I made spikes on her back, a snake with a forked tongue and talons (claws) within it. Not intentional, honest.... When I showed it to her, she wasn't crazy about the snake, so I embellished it to hold a 'posey'.... Much better. So much so, that she had me make a copy and she mounted it and will have it framed. My first piece of art in someone's house!

My 8 yr old grandson wanted to make a 'string'... so this is HIS string done with tangles.
This string started out as lightning bolts... Tried a few new tangles from my new book. Did some shading.
Tried new designs here, but haven't shaded it yet.
This one I did with MY initials.... (N.E.) and I incorporated part of me in it... That I have a big heart, that I'm soft at the hips, that I love to wear socks that don't match, that I can be 'spikey' on occasion... I think it suits me just fine. LOL

This is a smaller string, that when I got done with it, it looked like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. Unshaded as of yet.
"Butterfly Emerging" or "Cocoon"
This one I wanted to try different ribbons (inspired from my book), and filled in part of the background with bubbles.... but left holes in the background. Started to shade it.... Not sure how much more I'll do with it. Notice how the shadow of one of the ribbons is cast on the bubble underneath it? Neat....

Practicing Videos

After watching a few videos on Zentangling, I decided I needed to put the new tangles to use, even if it was to try them out.
This one I tried to make dangles, however it was made on scrap paper at work and some of that shows through from the back....sorry. I really like it too.
This is one of my real early ones... I found I'd done this on the back of paper I was to throw out. Figured I'd scan it before I lose it.

This one I love the shading on it... I'm feeling comfortable with the shading, but have yet to buy a smudge stick. I'll do that this week.
Not sure I like the shading on this WITHOUT a smudge stick.... too scratchy and I forgot to erase the pencil lines. These are things I'm still learning and I'm posting them to show you the things you also should remember to do to have a finished project.

 More video practices...

This was making pads and trying out shading. I'm sure I'm not finished with it yet.

I like this because of the open circles that nothing was done with. I am believing that all empty spaces do NOT need to be tangled.
"Tangled Bouquet"

This I tried to see if I could have a space that was tangled that I could make "polished'. I'm calling this one, "The Tin Horn in the Garden"

This one I must have been thinking of Christmas Shopping...Seven more Fridays!
